Georgia Trip: Hanging Out

After several days at the beach, we decided to spend our Sunday laying low at my parents' house.  The kids spent some time in the morning, afternoon, and evening playing outside in the water. 

Here Carter is running so fast through the sprinkler, even though with the warm weather, the water from the sprinkler wasn't that cold.

Here's quick little Ava

Excuse the nakey butt.  We're cheap and save on swim diapers.  Plus the water was so warm, it was like taking a bath.  Although, we did later have to clear out the pool and give it a cleaning and fresh, cooler water when a swimmer had a little confusion as to the purpose of the pool.  So perhaps the swim diaper would have been a good idea....

Hannah loved the "woof woofs" at Grammy and Grampy's.  She currently carries around and kisses pictures of Gus and Madison all day long.

She also loved dancing to all the music from the radio.

Later that day, Jake and I went to Savannah by ourselves.  We trekked along River Street for as long as we could handle the heat.  This is why I love walking around Savannah though- the old structures and sights to see.  I love the old buildings made of river rocks and patched here and there with brick.

After dinner that night, the kids cooled off with some ice cream cones.  The adults may have had some too.  We love ice cream cones!

Georgia Trip: Tybee Island

I took so many pictures on our trip to Savannah that I decided to break them up into parts of the trip.  First up is our first few days, where we spent the bulk of our time on Tybee Island.

When we first arrived at Grammy and Grampy's, the kids were running around the yard, expending all their energy from the two flights.  Then suddenly, Carter came across a map!  He quickly transformed into Captain Carter and with the help of his mateys Ellie, Ava, and Alex (who also doubled as navigator since Captain Carter didn't understand that he needed to follow the map to the X), they went on a treasure hunt. 

Finally Captain Carter found the "X"!  He quickly took control of a shovel and went to digging.  I took this picture before he demonstrated his shoveling style to be that of toss it over his shoulder, thus covering himself and everyone behind him with sand and dirt!

A treasure chest!

The chest was full of coins for the kids to share.  Captain Carter got a little greedy and tried to claim the treasure as his own and also tried to take credit for finding it all by himself, but we finally reminded him that his mateys helped him and they deserved some of the spoils as well.

The next day, we headed out to Tybee Island and the beach!

This photo makes me laugh every time!  Alex didn't care that it was 2 pm and high tide was at 4 pm when he decided to start building the greatest castle ever.  It was the highlight of my day watching him watch the water creep closer and closer as he attempted to fortify his castle of sand against the inevitable tide.  Before we left the beach for the day, the castle was lost.

Poor Hannah took a digger into the coffee table in the condo while we waited for Grammy, Grampy, and the rest of the troops to arrive for the day, so her second day on the beach wasn't as fun for her at first.

Having realized the futility of buildling a castle with the inevitable tide, Alex and company decided to build a swimming hole instead.

We had dinner at Marlin Monroe's on the beach and then walked around downtown Tybee that evening.  My dad heard a live band playing and took Hannah in to hear them play.  She loves music and put on nearly as good of a show as the band with her dancing around!

We capped our second night at Tybee off with a trip to the playground to get the kids good and tired for the drive back to the grandparents that evening.  Following a scrubdown and pjs in the condo, not one made it back awake.

We all had a fantastic time out on Tybee Island.  The kids loved both the beach and ocean as well as the condo pools.  They swam from the time they arrived at the beach until we yanked them out of the water for a break or dinner!  Jake and I also had a fantastic time and enjoyed 2 nights mostly to ourselves.  We did keep Hannah with us as she doesn't sleep the best without her mama right next to her but it was still fairly peaceful to have only one to put to bed at night and only one to take out to breakfast each morning!

June Wrap Up 2

We finished June (minus our trip) with a run through the sprinker.  I bought a $2.50 sprinkler at Target, not expecting much from it.  The thing had amazing spraying power!  The kids had a blast running through it.

I love Hannah in this photo!  The water was cold but it didn't deter her!

On this evening, we were watching a bunny in our backyard.  It ran away so Ava went out with some carrots to see if she could lure it back into view.

However, a different bunny got to the carrot first!

We also took Hannah in for her first trim before we left on our trip.  With a sucker in hand, she was content to sit in the chair and let the stylist trim up her back.  All we did was a clean-up of the back but it looks much fuller and controlled than it did before.
