It's been a while and rather than make excuses as I seem to regularly do, here are some funny ecards that I've found that should tell the story.

 

 

This one explains it all!!

Jake's sister sent me this one that she found on a mom website.  Too funny!

I love this one. You'd be surprised how many people will say "two for the price of one!"  Pretty sure that they each had their own hospital bill at birth, each require their own clothing and food, each need a bed to sleep in, and we definitely paid tuition for two at preschool. This sums it up perfectly.

The twins finished preschool last week. I thought I was being original and bought the teachers each a plant as a thank you. Turns out at least 4 other families in our class had the same idea! Here's the cute little card I whipped up in Photoshop in 30 seconds for the teachers.

 

Ellie's birthday is Thursday.  With working and the school year ending and everything else we had going on last year, I didn't put together a friend party for her. She begged for one this year so we are having a small bash on Saturday.  Just Ellie and her 9 closest friends. Ellie cried when I made her cut the guest list down to 9 but she did it.  Hopefully all goes well with our plans. I've got it pretty much planned out so now I just need to pick up the few items we need yet and put everything together. The condition for her party was that we keep it simple and easy so it shouldn't be too stressful.  I'll let you know how it goes!

4 Month Photos

I intended to take 3 month photos of Sophia.  I even ordered two pairs of ruffle bloomers, a headband, and a lace romper from a store on Etsy for the photos.  Unfortunately, I didn't read the reviews of the shop before placing my order.  While the seller had great reviews regarding her product, many complained about the length of time it took to get their items and the seller not responding to requests for information on their order.  So one month after I ordered the items and two unanswered messages to the seller, they came.  I could have still gotten the pictures taken in the middle of Sophia's 3rd month of life but that was the same time as the Georgia trip and baptism events.  So I took these mere days before she turned 4 months and I'm calling them 4 month shots instead!

 

So not feeling up to pictures!!

Sophia went in for her 4 month check up on May 3rd.  She clocked in at 15 lbs 8 oz (74%ile) and was 25 inches long (72%ile).  Girl digs her food!  She took her two shots and oral vaccine like a trooper.  She did have some thrush in her mouth so she's got a prescription to get rid of that.  It's almost all cleared up so she won't have to choke down the medicine much longer!  Otherwise, this little peanut is doing great.  She's learning how to use her hands and practices grabbing things all the time, especially my hair.  She's still going to physical therapy for her torticollis.  It's almost gone but she still has a little tightness to the one side (tilts a bit to her right.  you can see it in all the photos.  not super noticeable but still there). 

 

Other tidbits about our 4 month old nugget: loves to chatter, sleeps best when snuggled with someone, has started chuckling if we tickle her, enjoys grabbing at her toys on the playmat or bouncy seat, will yell at said toys if they aren't cooperating with her hands, smiles up a storm, and is a happy little girl.  She obviously enjoys eating and gulps a full 4 oz every feeding.  We'll start solids in mid June as the suggested solid start date has been pushed closer to 6 months old.  She will occasionally sleep through the night but we just moved her into the crib in the room next door so she's been waking up the past couple nights in a minor revolt.  I think once solids are in the picture, she will sleep through the night.  She still polishes off a whole bottle at some point in the night.

When the package of photo props arrived, I tried the romper on Hannah to see if it fit her too.  It did and she remembered that she got to wear it when she saw Sophia in it.  She kept pulling on it and saying "Hannah turn" as I was taking Sophia's pictures.  So I finished up with Sophia and let Hannah have a turn. 

I intended to have her sit on the blanket while I took the pictures.  However, she wanted her photos just like Sophia's so she wanted to sit in the Bumbo too!

This picture makes me laugh because it is such a typical Hannah pose!

Oh my little girls!  The toddler-infant thing has been an adjustment but these two are so darn cute and have such fun personalities. 

Park Time

The weather is finally nice enough again that we can go outside and play at parks again.  The kids had a blast returning to North Park, which is one of their favorite summer places.

 

I made Jake buy me a new lens after Sophia was born as a gift for all the children I've given him.  I got a 50 mm f/1.8.  It's a fixed focal length lens so it's taken some getting used to.  I have to be the one to adjust my distance instead of using the lens to adjust the image.   I do like that it has a much lower f-stop than my 18-55 mm lens though.  The more I play with it, the more I'm sure I'll like it over time.  Anyway, here are the photos from the park!

Sophia's Baptism

Sophia Madilyn was baptized on April 21st, 2013.  (I'm behind, what else is new?!)  Sophia's godparents are Holly and Joel, the same as Carter as he will tell you at least once a day now.  We held off on having Sophia's baptism until the middle of April, figuring the weather would be nice for Holly and Joel to come back.  Instead, it snowed a massive amount a day after Holly arrived.  We'll never be able to convince her to move back now!  Despite the weather woes, the day went great for little Sophia.  She wore the dress my Grandma made 60 years ago for my aunt Amy to wear, who also happens to be my godmother.  My mother wore the dress, I wore the dress, and now all four of my girls have worn the dress.  The older girls have both said that any girls of theirs will wear the dress too!

 

Every time Father Kelly came to Sophia in the line of babies (there were 7 babies total being baptized that day, including a set of boy/girl twins -which brought back memories for Jake and I!), she gave him the biggest gummy smile she could.  I'm not sure if she liked Father Kelly or was just that excited to be baptized but without fail, every time he came to her, he was rewarded with a big smile!

Afterwards, we headed back to Papa and Grandma's for lunch and cupcakes.  Hannah had taken her nap during the baptism on Papa's shoulder.  Isabella and Elizabeth were about ready for a nap.  So this is about as good as it got for the Grandparents/Grandchildren picture that Papa wanted.  I have a series of photos of Hannah crying and screaming, which ends with Elizabeth joining in!  It's funny, but it's not!  Good thing this photo will be outdated in just a few months when Baby Girl #2 Kunkel (BKG2 as we call her) arrives.  We'll try again next time Holly and Joel come back and get the 2011 babies in a better mood!

I think this is our first family photo since Sophia!  Hannah is still ticked off though so she wasn't feeling it.

A couple days later, I stuck Sophia back into her baptismal gown to get a few pictures of her alone.  I have a picture of each kid in their outfit in the bouncer seat and wanted one of Sophia to join the bunch.  Unfortunately, her bouncy seat tips back quite far, likely due to the 30 lb toddler that still tries to get in it at times.  It was hard to get just the right angle to get my desired shot to resemble the other kids.  Not to mention that Sophia was not feeling pictures at that moment in time!

Probably the best one and while she isn't smiling, I think the twins were the only two who did have a semi-smile in their photos so it will fit in with the serious bunch of baptism pictures!

And enough! I actually think this pic is pretty cute too.  When this girl has had enough, she is done!

It was a wonderful day for Sophia and we are thankful to Holly and Joel for coming back for our baby's special occasion and to meet the little lady for the first time.  We're sorry for the crappy weather but once you two move back, you'll get used to it again! ;)
